Dr. Jenna Garza was born and raised in Texas. She earned her undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at Texas A&M University in College Station. Dr. Jenna Garza has been a dedicated member of the Hollymead Veterinary Hospital team since November 2018.

Dr. Ryan McKenna was raised on a horse and cattle farm in Charlottesville, Virginia, where his passion for animals and veterinary medicine began at an early age. He gained hands-on experience as an assistant at several local veterinary practices throughout high school and college. Dr. Ryan McKenna pursued his academic journey at Virginia Tech, earning a bachelor’s degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences.

Dr. Karen Holm’s passion for animals began early in life, as she participated in 4-H fairs in her home state of Maryland, showing sheep and rabbits. She pursued this passion academically, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Wildlife Management and Animal & Veterinary Sciences from West Virginia University, followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University.

Dr. Shelly Howard earned her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University. With a passion for both dentistry and feline care, Dr. Shelly Howard is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of animals.

Dr. Janice O’Brien is an Army brat, having grown up in various military bases. She graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a BS in Engineering. She then attended veterinary school at Purdue University in Indiana. As a veterinarian, she served in the US Army Veterinary Corps for five years in Texas, deploying once to the Middle East. She then moved to Virginia, where she has been both caring for pets and working on her PhD in canine nutrition epidemiology at Virginia Tech. She enjoys discussing nutrition research when the opportunity arises. Outside of work, she enjoys running and crocheting. She has a fluffy gremlin of a Pomeranian who keeps her on her toes. 

Ashley started her career in the veterinary field in 2009 as a licensed veterinary technician. She transitioned into practice management in 2016. Over the years, Ashley has worked extensively in both general practice and emergency medicine, bringing a broad and balanced perspective to veterinary care and clinic operations. In 2021, she earned the Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) credential, demonstrating a strong commitment to leadership and excellence in veterinary management.

Outside of work, Ashley enjoys exploring new places, curling up with a good book, and spending time outdoors hiking. She shares her home with two beloved rescue dogs, Jasper and Molly.
